I HAVE NEVER HAD A MASSAGE BEFORE, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

We understand booking your first ever treatment can be a bit of a daunting experience but here are a few tips on booking, before, during and after your treatment.
Contact your therapist via email or phone before booking. Ask any questions, big or small, a good therapist will not mind the questions and should be able to reassure you. This helps to make sure you are booking the most appropriate treatment for you.
Once your treatment is booked, make sure your therapist has sent you all the information you need for example, the price, the address and any paperwork that needs to be filled in beforehand

(usually a consultation form). This should all be found on your Fresha booking but please do contact your therapist if you are unable to locate any information.
When arriving at your treatment your therapist will explain the treatment to you and give you direction on what they need you to do. They should also give you time to ask any more questions you have. 
This is the most important tip we can give you. At no point should you feel uncomfortable as a client. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't so please speak out. A good therapist should never make you feel uneasy or uncomfortable and will take steps to make sure you are supported and looked after.   
After your treatment your therapist will talk you through some things you may experience and any advice on what to do.  

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY TREATMENT?

Please wear clothes you are comfortable in. Unless stated in the description most treatments at Serene Massage Therapies require you to be undressed. This DOES NOT mean you will be exposed or left to feel uncomfortable. Your therapist will step out of the room while you undress down to underwear, lay on the couch and place the provided towels over yourself for modesty. Only the area being worked on is uncovered. Serene Massage Therapies is a professional massage service with high standards, towel drapes are required for every treatment at all times. 

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY TREATMENT?

Every client is different in their reaction to massage however here a few common feelings to be aware of. 
It is very common to feel relaxed and sleepy after a treatment. Please take your time when leaving your appointment, especially if you are driving. Feel free to visit the cafe, shop or outside food village before leaving your appointment. 
Especially after a deep tissue massage clients can feel sore and like they have completed a workout. This is normal and can last 24-48 hrs. Please ensure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, keep moving and if needed use heat to ease the muscles. This could be in the form of a hot water bottle or wheat bag. 
Headaches can be a common side effect as massage aids the movement of lymphatic fluid which is your bodies natural waste system. Meaning your body has to work harder for a time to process, break down and eliminate built up natural waste.

Drink plenty of water to aid effective circulation of fluid.

I AM NOT FEELING WELL, CAN I STILL ATTEND MY APPOINTMENT?

In this situation it is best to reschedule your appointment. Massage can bring out the symptoms more making you feel worse than when you arrived. It is also highly likely you will unnecessarily spread your illness to others who are potentially vulnerable. If your therapist feels it is in both of your interests, appointments can be refused if you do arrive, but will still be charged for. If in doubt always contact your therapist.

I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT. WHAT DO I DO?

Every appointment is confirmed by you with the acceptance of our cancellation policy. This means if you need to cancel your appointment within 24hrs you will be charged the full amount. Cancellation can be made via your log in on the Fresha app or via your therapist. Before the 24hr policy all appointments can be cancelled and rescheduled with no charge.  Please do note that persistent cancellation and rescheduling of appointments may result in a polite refusal to continue taking bookings from you. 

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY TREATMENT?

Card details are required when booking (and stored securely on your Fresha login) to comply with the cancellation policy. Payment is taken after your treatment via the card you registered on Fresha or cash (please bring the correct amount as no change is kept on site).  

HOW DO I BOOK A TREATMENT?

WHERE DO I FIND YOU IN MACKNADE?

Serene Massage Therapies is based in the main building of Macknade. When you arrive, walk through the main shop and head towards the café. Just before the entrance to the café you will see an area on your right called the 'Experience Bar'. Head to there and up the stairs. Here you will find a stool, please take a seat and your therapist will meet you there.
